Change - The Story of the Eagle... Let's Learn from the Eagle

Thank you, Caroline for sending the following to us.

Been wanting to post this some time ago but have yet to locate your email and now as I have located it, here it is for all my readers to read:

"Let's end 2007 with self reflections and begin the new year 2008 with a positive and cheery attitude :-)
Happy and Blessed New Year!!" ~ Caroline

Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. (KJV)

As studies have shown, during the 150-day period when the eagle is helpless, other eagles will bring it food.

The story of the eagle…

The eagle has the longest life-span of its species

It can live up to 70 years.

But to reach this age, the eagle must make a hard decision.

In its 40's

Its long and flexible talons can no longer grab prey which serves as food

Its long and sharp beak becomes bent

Its old-aged and heavy wings,

due to their thick feathers,

become stuck to its chest and make it difficult to fly

Then, the eagle is left with only two options:

die or go through a painful process of change which lasts 150 days.

The process requires that the eagle fly to a mountain top and sit on its nest

There the eagle knocks its beak against a rock until it plucks it out.

After plucking it out,

the eagle will wait for a new beak to grow back

and then it will pluck out its talons

When its new talons grow back, the eagle starts plucking its old-aged feathers

And after five months, the eagle takes its famous flight of rebirth and lives for ... 30 more years

Why is change needed?

Many times, in order to survive We have to start the change process. We sometimes need to get rid of old memories, Habits and other past traditions Only freed from the past burdens can we take Advantage of the present.

Here's the slide show of the above with beautiful pictures:
Enjoy!

Change: Without & WIthin Oneself - Who Moved My Cheese?

Hi Everyone

Much changes in my life - moved back to my old home, changed schools for my children , getting a new job and more changes in life to come.

How do I handle them all? Well, my secret... to read this one book that often gave me the courage to face my new challenges each and every time - "Who Moved My Cheese?" (Adults version). Not forgetting my Bible reading, of course.

My son recently picked this book (kids version) as his class' show-and-tell 'favorite storybook' topic. There's also the teens version. Regardless of the version, they are all good-reads' "treasures" for keepsake and building your personal library.

Besides, teaching me to face my new challenges; I discovered too the change within myself as I moved these characters into play in my own life. It difficult to express but once you experienced change and its effects, you will understand what I mean.

Here's a video clip based on the book for you to enjoy:

God bless as you embark to a changed you - a change from within yourself!

Psalm 23 - The Lord Is My Shepherd

Dear friends

I have been busy - just started to help out as a Sunday School teacher.

As I was preparing for the lessons for tomorrow, my heart was impressed by Psalm 23 - A Shepherd Psalm by King David.

This Psalm tells us what God is like:
It says that God is like a shepherd
who loves and cares for his sheep.
He watches them closely,
protects them from danger,
and makes sure they have enough to eat and drink.

To say God is our shepherd means that He watches over us and will show us what is best for us.

I am also now on a cross-road of life seeking peace to the decisions I have to make and this Psalm gave me the peace I needed as I allowed Him to show me what is best for me.

I have found a video from GodTube where a little girl recites this Psalm, let us enjoy it!

God Bless All!
Jennifer

Happy Easter! A Good Friday Exaltation.

The Story of Resurrection
(Adapted from Easter: The Day of 'Resurrection')

There is a Christian saying that says, "Prophets died, saints died, great men died - none of them ever returned to life. When Christ died some people remembered that He had foretold His resurrection..."

The reference of the Holy Bible
Behind the festive joys, feast, fun and family enjoyment, Easter reminds all of a significant event.

The event that Jesus Christ was resurrected, after having suffered and died. It reminds you that Christ, who was crucified on, what is now called, the Good Friday, showed Himself up on Easter. So, it is a time to celebrate. To celebrate - our Lord, who appeared on Earth for the good of mankind, is always with us.

The saying came as one of His prophecies where He (Jesus) would resurrect was foretold in the Holy Bible. And, with memories sharpened by hatred, his enemies were the first to remember his prophecy. Hardly had He been buried when they approached the Roman Governor Pontius Pilate with a request to guard the tomb. Pilate gave them soldiers and instructed them to secure the tomb. They went, sealed the stone that closed the entrance, and set the guards to keep watch day and night.

During the night of Friday, the day of his Crucifixion, through to Saturday, nothing had really happened. So did go the the whole of Saturday, the weekly rest day in Jerusalem then.

The things turned different on the early morning of the Sunday, the third day since Jesus was crucified. There was a great uproar and the guards of the tomb were all struck by lightning. for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone, and sat upon it. His face shining like lightning and his garments white as snow. At this sight, the soldiers trembled with fear and remained as dead men. When they came to their senses there was no point in watching over an empty tomb any longer.

They went to report the chief priest about the incident. In reply they were asked to distort the truth. And spread a story that the body of Jesus was stolen by his own disciples when the guards were asleep during the night.

Meanwhile, early on the following morning, that was Sunday morning, some holy women started for the tomb. They were surprised to see that the stone had been moved aside. They entered the tomb. And found it empty. As they wondered what all these meant, two angels appeared. The angels told them that Jesus had risen again, as he had already told.

Soon Peter, one of Jesus' twelve apostles got there along with John, his junior. They found only the linen and the piece of cloth used to wrap his body lied in the empty tomb. Puzzled, they left.

But Jesus was yet to appear in front of them. Instead, Jesus went farther. He turned up to join two of His disciples who were journeying from Jerusalem to a village called Emmaus. However, Jesus did not make Himself known to them. Jesus to them came to be known as a stranger who had real mastery over the holy Scriptures. Impressed they invited Jesus to stay with them and share their meal. Jesus agreed. But when at the table they recognized Jesus as He broke bread, he disappeared.

In no time the two disciples headed for Jerusalem. When they met the apostles and told them about everything happened, Jesus made his appearance. And Jesus convinced them all that he was alive and asked them if anything was there to eat. Then he ate in their presence as a living man does. With this everybody there became overwhelmed with joy that their master had returned to life. And life again had become meaningful to the apostles.

Jesus had eaten with them. Talked to them in a familiar manner. And finally he reminded them that he had come from heaven, sent by his Father to perform a task. Now, the task had been done by offering his life for the sins of mankind, it is time for the apostles to follow his suit. And Jesus gave the apostles the Holy Spirit: the power over sin. So one whose sins are forgiven by the apostles, would be forgiven by the heaven. After this Jesus left, as suddenly as he came in.

Jesus returned to the same place on the Sunday next, to make believe the unbelievers. And Jesus showed Himself now and then to teach His apostles the lessons and to teach them to live without Him. Jesus did this for a period of forty days.

On the fortieth day of His reappearance, when Jesus felt He had given the disciples all that He had to, He went back to the heaven. This same Jesus, our Lord, will come back just the same way He has left but the next time, He is not going to be a baby but as a fierce warrior to claim His own!

He had left His disciples to carry on His work and to reach His message of love and peace to all.

So, here I am, as one of His servant; proclaiming His Risen Glory to all who will believe and be saved from condemnation into eternal fire of hell... for JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY!!

How to believe and be saved?
1) Admit you are a sinner (Romans 3:23) and confess your sins for the penalty is eternal spiritual death (Romans 6:23)
2) Accept Jesus as your personal Savior (Romans 5:8) into your life, mind, heart and soul and be forgiven (Romans 10:13)
3) Actively pursue His Word (The Holy Bible - King James Version) and be baptized.

From your heart pray the following prayer:
Dear God, I know I am a sinner. Please forgive my sin. I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sin, was buried and arose again the third day. I acknowledge Jesus as the Lord of my life and promise to live an obedient life as taught in God's Word. I want Jesus to come into my heart right now and save me. I pray in Jesus' Name. Amen.

What a great life lesson... "A Seed".

“A SEED”... What a great life lesson for all! (A story emailed to me from a friend that I would like to share with all.)

A successful Christian business man was growing old and knew it was time to choose a successor to take over the business. Instead of choosing one of his directors or his children, he decided to do something different. He called all the young executives in his company together.

He said, "It is time for me to step down and choose the next CEO. I have decided to choose one of you. "The young executives were shocked, but the boss continued." I am going to give each one of you a SEED today - one very special SEED. I want you to plant the seed, water it, and come back here one year from today with what you have grown from the seed I have given you. I will then judge the plants that you bring, and the one I choose will be the next CEO".
One man, named Jim, was there that day and he, like the others, received a seed. He went home and excitedly, told his wife the story. She helped him get a pot, soil and compost and he planted the seed. Everyday, he would water it and watch to see if it had grown. After about three weeks, some of the other executives began to talk about their seeds and the plants that were beginning to grow. Jim kept checking his seed, but nothing ever grew. Three weeks, four weeks, five weeks went by, still nothing. By now, others were talking about their plants, but Jim didn't have a plant and he felt like a failure.

Six months went by--still nothing in Jim's pot. He just knew he had killed his seed. Everyone else had trees and tall plants, but he had nothing. Jim didn't say anything to his colleagues, however. He just kept watering and fertilizing the soil - He so wanted the seed to grow. A year finally went by and all the young executives of the company brought their plants to the CEO for inspection. Jim told his wife that he wasn't going to take an empty pot. But she asked him to be honest about what happened. Jim felt sick at his stomach, it was going to be the most embarrassing moment of his life, but he knew his wife was right. He took his empty pot to the board room. When Jim arrived, he was amazed at the variety of plants grown by the other executives. They were beautiful--in all shapes and sizes. Jim put his empty pot on the floor and many of his colleagues laughed, a few felt sorry for him!

When the CEO arrived, he surveyed the room and greeted his young executives. Jim just tried to hide in the back. "My, what great plants, trees, and flowers you have grown," said the CEO. "Today one of you will be appointed the next CEO!" All of a sudden, the CEO spotted Jim at the back of the room with his empty pot. He ordered the financial director to bring him to the front. Jim was terrified. He thought, "The CEO knows I'm a failure! Maybe he will have me fired!" When Jim got to the front, the CEO asked him what had happened to his seed - Jim told him the story.

The CEO asked everyone to sit down except Jim. He looked at Jim, and then announced to the young executives, "Behold your next Chief Executive! His name is Jim!" Jim couldn't believe it. Jim couldn't even grow his seed. How could he be the new CEO the others said? Then the CEO said, "One year ago today, I gave everyone in this room a seed. I told you to take the seed, plant it, water it, and bring it back to me today.

But I gave you all boiled seeds; they were dead - it was not possible for them to grow. All of you, except Jim, have brought me trees and plants and flowers. When you found that the seed would not grow, you substituted another seed for the one I gave you. Jim was the only one with the courage and honesty to bring me a pot with my seed in it. Therefore, he is the one who will be the new Chief Executive!"

Moral

If you plant honesty, you will reap trust

If you plant goodness, you will reap friends

If you plant humility, you will reap greatness

If you plant perseverance, you will reap contentment

If you plant consideration, you will reap respect

If you plant hard work, you will reap success

If you plant forgiveness, you will reap reconciliation

If you plant faith in Christ, you will reap a harvest

So, be careful what you plant now; it will determine what you will reap later.

Two thousand years ago Paul wrote to the church at Galatia the same story but with fewer words, "What you sow, so shall you reap". (Gal. 6:7)

We are grass that will wither and die but the incorruptible seed of Gods Word will live forever - sow it daily into the life of your families! (1 Peter 1: 23 - 25)

Singapore's Very 1st Youth Olympics

Hi Everyone!

Been busy lately since Singapore's bid for hosting of the Youth Olympics. I just got myself interested in Table Tennis and had just found a great coach to coach me. Too bad that I have so many other things to do (and would like to do) and time seems so short for much fun.

Although my parents do not give me much pressure and let me have my fun times - like online games and reading books, I still think time is not enough to enjoy the many things there are to be enjoyed. Not to mention the money too.

As for Singapore's Youth Olympics - too bad I'm still too young to be in this grand event.

Congratulations to Singapore and Singaporeans!

CHRISTIAN WAYS TO REDUCE STRESS ...

Dear all , wisdom from the bible for your reading.

CHRISTIAN WAYS TO REDUCE STRESS ...

An Angel says, 'Never borrow from the future. If you worry about what may happen tomorrow and it doesn't happen, you have worried in vain. Even if it does happen, you have to worry twice.'

1. Pray

2. Go to bed on time.

3. Get up on time so you can start the day unrushed.

4. Say No to projects that won't fit into your time schedule, or that will compromise your mental health.

5. Delegate tasks to capable others.

6. Simplify and unclutter your life.

7. Less is more. (Although one is often not enough, two are often too many.)

8. Allow extra time to do things and to get to places.

9. Face yourself. Spread out big changes and difficult projects over time; don't dump the hard things all together.

10. Take one day at a time.

11. Separate worries from concerns . If a situation is a concern, find out what God would have you do and let go of the anxiety . If you can't do anything about a situation, forget it.

12. Live within your budget; don't use credit cards for ordinary purchases.

13. Have backups; an extra car key in your wallet, an extra house key buried in the garden, extra stamps, etc.

14. K.M.S. (Keep Mouth Shut). This single piece of advice can prevent an enormous amount of trouble.

15. Do something for the Kid in You everyday.

16. Carry a Bible with you to read while waiting in line.

17. Get enough rest.

18. Eat right. (Indulge in moderation is the best way.)

19 Get organized so everything has its place.

20. Listen to tape while driving that can help improve your quality of life.

21. Write down thoughts and inspirations.

22. Every day, find time to be alone.

23. Having problems? Talk to God on the spot. Try to nip small problems in the bud. Don't wait until it's time to go to bed to try and pray.

24. Make friends with Godly people.

25. Keep a folder of favorite scriptures on hand.

26. Remember that the shortest bridge between despair and hope is often a good 'Thank you Jesus.'

27. Laugh.

28. Laugh some more!

29. Take your work seriously, but not yourself at all.

30. Develop a forgiving attitude (most people are doing the best they can).

31. Be kind to unkind people (they probably need it the most).

32. Sit on your ego.

33 Talk less; listen more.

34. Slow down.

35. Remind yourself that you are not the general manager of the universe.

36 . Every night before bed, think of one thing you're grateful for that you've never been grateful for before. GOD HAS A WAY OF TURNING THINGS AROUND FOR YOU.

'If God is for us, who can be against us?' (Romans 8:31)
